When I see red clover swaying in the breeze, a smile comes over me. You might see a simple ground cover or a pretty roadside wild flower, but I see a reminder of my young adulthood.
This agricultural product is used along Mississippi highways to suppress weeds and amend the soil. My first marital home was located in a rural area with a ditch too steep to mow, so I asked my dad about the red clover I'd seen growing near his property. He gathered seeds from the clover (at my request) so I could grow the crimson plant at my house.
My attempts to grow the clover were unsuccessful, but that isn't important. What is important is that every time I see this clover, I am reminded of my dad's love, in this small way.
It makes the day better. Thanks, Dad.
