Hug a Caregiver

I have a new-found appreciation for caregivers and those in the medical field.

Recently a family member was hospitalized and I observed first hand the quality of care that was given to my loved one.  I watched a student nurse cheerfully perform her assigned tasks, eager to learn and willing to help. I saw dedicated PCAs work 12 hour shifts while keeping a smile on their faces. Hospital Photo by Pat Starnes

I watched his sweet wife change bed linens, give baths, and respond to the same question over and over again, all the while with patience and love.

So while this post has nothing to do with real estate, it has everything to do with acknowledging the countless nurses, personal care assistants, and family members who painstakingly and tirelessly care for aging parents, disabled children, or spouses day in and day out.

We don't realize what we have until we almost lose it.

We take our health for granted until someone we love gets sick. We assume someone will be there to take care of us but do we really comprehend all that it entails until we experience it first-hand?

Caregiving is often challenging and thankless, so to all those caregivers who feel unappreciated and overwhelmed, you provide an invaluable service for which I am grateful.

If you know a caregiver, hug one today!

And if you really want to show your appreciation, give them a break. They will appreciate that so much more.
