Although we don't have to worry about freezing just yet in Brandon, MS, it is a good idea to winterize before the temperatures dip. Our fall weather has been delightful. Hopefully we will have several more weeks of autumn-like weather before the frigid temperatures reach this far south. Remember to move your tender plants inside before the first frost!
If You Haven't Done It Yet, It Is Time to Winterize Those Hose Bibs
My husband and I learned the hard way why you should winterize your hose bibs. Several years ago, we found a leak inside our wall, caused by a hose bib that had frozen water in it and split the pipes. Let me tell you, after that repair and the embarrassment that came with it, neither of us will ever let that happen again.
Temperatures in Bristow, VA have come very close to freezing as we get closer to Halloween. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to find out they had dipped just below freezing here and there.
To winterize your hose bib, first turn off the water to the hose bib inside the home. Next, unhook your hose and turn the bib outside on. Leave it open until spring when you are about to turn the water on again. It is a simply winter maintenance item.
