Tomorrow is moving day and I'm melancholy. Amidst the moving boxes and chaos, I'm saying farewell to my cozy house on the hill and moving into a recently renovated "new to me" home.
Leaving this home is a little sad. When I bought this house, it had the most hideous wall colors I'd ever seen. It had been neglected and abandoned, and I brought it back to life. I hand picked each color, tile, and floor covering. I scrubbed, polished and painted to make it happy again.
It was devoid of landscaping but now the yard is full of vibrant color with crepe myrtles, day lilies, hydrangeas, and forsythia.
As I reflect on my time in this home, there are good memories. Leaving one home and moving to another can be sad, exhausting, yet exciting at the same time. By taking a few moments to say "goodbye house", I'm paying homage to the house and my life here.
I love what I do. Buying and selling real estate has been my career for nearly 30 years, and taking an unloved home and making it shine again is a passion.
Goodbye house.
