Friday Fotos - Red Clover

When I see red clover swaying in the breeze, a smile comes over me. You might see a simple ground cover or a pretty roadside wild flower, but I see a reminder of my young adulthood.

This agricultural product is used along Mississippi highways to suppress weeds and amend the soil. My first marital home was located in a rural area with a ditch too steep to mow, so I asked my dad about the red clover I'd seen growing near his property. He gathered seeds from the clover (at my request) so I could grow the crimson plant at my house.

Red clover by Pat StarnesMy attempts to grow the clover were unsuccessful, but that isn't important. What is important is that every time I see this clover, I am reminded of my dad's love, in this small way.

It makes the day better. Thanks, Dad.
