The 3rd annual Keller Williams Chili Cook-Off in Jackson, MS was a huge success! Our local Keller Williams market center raised over $1300 for KW Cares, our national non-profit organization.

Since this was my first year to attend the annual cook-off, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the chili was mmm, mmm good, it was a gorgeous fall day, and everyone who attended enjoyed indulging in the festivities.

First, second, and third place prizes were awarded for the best chili and also for best table decorations. I'm not quite sure how our local judges made their decisions, but they took their responsibilities seriously!

Everyone who participated made awesome chili and we appreciate each and every vendor who contributed.

First Place went to Luckett Land and Title.

 Second place was awarded to Chan Vessell at First American Title Company.

 Blair Chandler with Prime Lending in Ridgeland, MS snagged third  place.

The People's Choice award went to Magnolia Home Inspections.

Congratulations to all the winners! Thanks to everyone who participated and worked behind the scenes. I'm sure this event will continue to grow and our KW family can raise even more funds for our charity next year.

Unusual Yard Art ~ Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This!

 

When I saw the unusual landscaping in the front yard of this Jackson MS home, I had to circle the block to snap this photo.

I've seen creative uses of found objects before in my everyday travels, but this one may win the prize of "most unusual find".

The property is located in the trendy Fondren area of Jackson.

Come enjoy chili at the Keller Williams Chili Cook-Off on November 18th in Jackson, MS at the Mississippi Ag Museum.

Our local Keller Williams Realty office is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off as a fundraiser to support our national non-profit organization.  KW Cares is a charitable corporation designed to assist Keller Williams associates and their immediate family members in case of emergency or hardship.

Not only does KW Cares support its own members financially through personal tragedy or hardships, but KW Cares also donates to other charities, like M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Tickets for the Chili Cook-Off are $5.00 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Teams will compete for bragging rights (and trophy) for the best chili.

Area celebrity judges will select the first, second, and third place winners. In addition, there will be a "People's Choice" award. Register for a chance to win door prizes or participate in our fun raffle. 

The KW Chili Cook-Off will take place between 11:00-2:00 at the Heritage Building at the Ms Ag Museum off Lakeland Drive.

Mistletoe Marketplace, a Jackson Shopping Tradition, is coming to MS Trade Mart November 4-6, 2010.

This event, sponsored by The Junior League of Jackson, is a three-day shopping extravaganza that marks the beginning of the holiday season. Over 160 merchants from across the U.S. bring their wares and artwork to sell at Mistletoe Marketplace.

Speaking from personal experience, this is a must attend event, and a terrific opportunity to secure some unique and treasured Christmas presents from talented artisans.

General admission begins Thursday, November 4th from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday's hours will be 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday shopping will be from 9-5 p.m. Admission is $10 per day, or a three-day pass can be purchased for $20. Buy tickets here for Mistletoe Marketplace.

Check the Mistletoe Marketplace website for special events, including Photos with Santa and The Polar Express Pajama Party for children.

Mistletoe Marketplace is the primary fundraiser for The Junior League of Jackson. Proceeds benefit the group's various projects throughout the Metro Jackson area.

Mississippi's 151st State Fair is underway at the Mississippi Coliseum and State Fairgrounds in Jackson MS. The fair opened Wednesday, October 6th and will remain open until the 17th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A group of KW agents went during lunch today to consume corn dogs, fried potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and of course, funnel cakes. If there is any doubt as to this author's personal favorite, check out this photo.

(If you don't believe me, you should see the dusting of powdered sugar in my car!)

Some of the entertainers for the 2010 MS State Fair include Hank Williams, Jr., Boyz II Men, Ronnie Milsap, and 38 Special. General admission to the fair is $5.00 for adults, but if you go before 1:00 p.m., there is no charge for entrance or parking.

Daytime termperatures may be on the warm side, but if you go after dusk, a jacket may be appropriate.
