The Jackson Association of Realtors released their new MLS system a couple of weeks ago. The program, List-It, is provided by Solid Earth, a real estate technology company based in Huntsville, Alabama.
Realtors have been experimenting with the new site since it went "live" on February 5th. As expected, the transition has been challenging, but the new MLS appears to be superior to the previous system and has some quality enhancements that should prove more user-friendly to Realtors and consumers alike.
For the consumer who wishes to search homes in the Metro Jackson area, the prospect can run MLS searches, save searches, set up automatic searches, etc.
A major improvement of our new system is that we no longer rely on zones or numbered areas to search for properties, Now we have the capability of searching by county or zip code. In the past, listings were occasionally entered in an incorrect area which made them harder to locate. Hopefully the search by zip code will be more efficient.
Another vast improvement is the new geo-mapping system. The previous MLS system had a map program that had not been revised in years.
My personal website provides access to the MLS. The address, PatStarnes.com, is easy to remember. Bookmark the site and keep it handy whenever you want to find homes in Brandon, Pearl, Madison, Ridgeland, or Flowood, MS. If you would rather have me search for you, contact me here.
After the learning curve is conquered, both JAR Realtors and consumers should be pleased with the new site.

Pat, change is good...always a bit of a learning curve but it sounds as though it's an improvement over your previous MLS system.
Gena, it is a vast improvement over the old system. Thank you for commenting.
Pat, this is the MLS that our board (Northwest MS Assoc. of Realtors) uses. I love it. Plus, Solid Earth has been great if we have a problem and listening to our concerns and suggestions. Have fun learning and exploring your new MLS system.
Oh, Pam, it's so great to talk to someone who has the system! I do like it, but they customize it for each board, and unfortunately it may be missing some of the bells & whistles I'd like to see. How long have you had this MLS system?
Thanks for stopping by my post.
Pat - we have had the Solid Earth List-It system ever since I became a member of that board in 2004. I hope we stay with this MLS for a LONG time. They have added several new features for us over the past couple of years.
Pam, how did you get the big brokers with SEO domination to go along with an MLS Consumer Website? Did your smaller brokers unite to level the playing field? Our local board is dominated by a few big brokers and they just don't want an MLS Consumer Website. "You can't be a prophet in your homeland" so we're going elsewhere to find an MLS that has small brokers that want to unite.
One of the most disturbing things I read was that 60% of the MLS Consumer Websites don't provide leads! I wonder who wanted that system? Maybe those same big brokers that were getting the leads through Broker Reciprocity? "You list it, you sell it." We thought that concept made sense, but not to Brokers who sell the internet leads to their new agents at the duty desk. Your thoughts?
